HILDA AKUA FRIMPONG
Hilda Frimpong was born in Kumasi Ghana, where she spent the first five years of her life with her family. She lived in Toronto, Canada for five years before moving to Texas where she currently resides. She graduated from Texas A&M University in August and is now pursuing a law degree. Her major was Anthropology with a Biological concentration and minor is Comparative International Studies. Her career interest is in International Affairs and Healthcare. As a proud daughter of two Ghanaian parents and the oldest of three children, she strives to be the image of an exemplary Ghanaian woman. As the reigning Miss Ghana USA, she hopes to be a great role model and uplift the Ghanaian community in all she does. Although she is a healthcare advocate, she has made it a goal to contribute to all charitable causes that empower the Ghanaian community. Hilda currently serves as a “Beautiful Ambassador of HOPE” for Raising HOPE, a non-profit charity organization providing care for orphans, less fortunate and children with special needs across Africa, namely Ghana. Hilda plans to use her year to work with different charities that concentrate on healthcare improvement in addition with working with young girls in the Ghanaian community. She firmly believes that a healthy self -image is a crucial aspect to a healthy life
SPECIAL INITIATIVE:
Raising HOPE:
Hilda Akua Frimpong dedicated the majority of her reign to serving as a beautiful ambassador of hope for Raising HOPE, a non profit charity and partner organization of Miss Ghana USA that is dedicated to the well being of orphans, less fortunate, and children with special needs in Ghana and all of Africa. As an ambassador Hilda hosted a special black tie fundraiser, which later on benefitted the children represented under Raising HOPE. In January 2013, Hilda traveled with the group to Ghana provide hands on care, assistance, mentorship and compassion through an intimate holiday gathering.

Beyond Aid:
Miss Ghana USA has partnered with the Beyond Aid Organization to provide a series of Women’s empowerment programs each year. In January 2013, Hilda Akua Frimpong hosted the first annual collaborative women’s empowerment summit entitled “I am because we are”, in Accra, Ghana. Ghanaian Girls Rock!
Ghanaian Girls Rock is a program that seeks to bridge the gap between Ghanaian teenage girls and young adult women. It is an opportunity to have an open dialogue with the young teens about issues they encounter everyday (self-esteem, peer pressure, etc) while challenging them to embrace their Ghanaian roots and culture.
Ghanaian Girls Rock with take place in April, 2013. Stay tuned for updates/recaps from the event.
